Personal Style: Cropped But Cool

Nothing short of short but chic.

Hello again! Since I had so much fun last week with my Week of Stripes OOTD series, here's another week of themed outfits: Week of Denim!! So enjoy: every day this week, I'll show you one outfit and give you tips and tricks on how to make it look amazing! Let's get started...

Finally, today, the sky cleared and the weather was gorgeous--the way it's supposed to be in July, here in Vancouver! So to celebrate the warm-again weather, I sported a burgundy cropped tank top, army green shorts, relaxed Nikes, a casual backpack, and my trusty oversized denim button-down. The button-down is great because it adds a touch of modesty to the gap between my waistband and the hem of my shirt--although you have to be careful with oversize shirts and make sure that 1. they don't swallow you up, and 2. more importantly, that your shorts are visible from beneath it! Otherwise it'll look like you're pants-less, and that's never in style. The burgundy, green, and blue of this outfit go nicely together since they're three desaturated colors, but are still colorful. This allows for black sneakers and a dark blue backpack while still feeling summery and not morbid. But if the desaturated colors are too dank for you, add a bright pop of color on your nails and toss your hair into a scrunchie topknot using a colorful or patterned tie – I'm sporting a floral-print one.

Hope you like this! Check back tomorrow for another denim look.
