Happy long weekend! I trust you've been enjoying it - now be honest. Who spent the time lounging in a tee and denim cutoffs? Or just a swimsuit? That's okay - no judgement here, because those who are happy and comfortable are often the most chic. But if you need some inspiration for maintaining that comfort and upping the elegance, you've come to the right place!

With a pairing like an oversize chambray button-down and a loose midi skirt, a lack of accessories can result in a sloppy appearance. A wide belt in a neutral color (here brown, to create a through line with my sunglasses and sandals) cinches and draws attention to the waist, and with the flow of both top and bottom, even a larger-sized waist will appear small, creating the much-coveted hourglass shape. It also breaks up the blues, making the monochrome more cohesive. A structured bag like mine will also create a more polished look. Extra style points if its color is in the same family of the monochromatic look and the hardware matches your other accessories (here my earrings, belt buckle, and shoes). Also, if you're looking to add more elegance, a slicked-back chignon never hurts!

My shoes and shirt are old, in a fashion-world sense – I've had them for years – but my bag and glasses are brand-new. These beautiful hoop earrings, which I wear whenever I get the chance, are actually borrowed from my mother, who has a top-notch collection. And, of course, my skirt (and bag) are navy!

Thanks for reading, hope you're inspired, and enjoy your Monday (the one Monday of the year that everyone loves!)
