Nothing Short of Chic: November 2016

Personal Style: Candy Corn – Post #100

In honour of 100 posts' worth of NSOC, here's some more outfit inspiration for you! | Nothing Short Of Chic
Thank you so much for supporting me through all 100 posts (and everything else we've been through together).

Guten Tag, alles! This is (drum roll please) my 100th post on Nothing Short Of Chic! I figured that, since this is, after all, a personal style blog, I'd post an outfit for you to get inspired by in honour of 2 years, 7 months, a handful of videos, and 100 posts' worth of NSOC.

It's really, truly winter, and it's kind of acceptable to even kick off the holiday season now that American Thanksgiving is over. Which means thick boots, heavy coats, and warm gloves. Unless you're me, and you don't even bother going outside, in which case you can wear whatever you want. Case in point: this cute, candy corn-inspired outfit. If your weather is still autumnal, take a cue from yours truly and wear orange, black, and brown for a fun, seasonal look.

What I Wore: Pumpkin Spice – Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving is coming up and you probably have something to wear but so do I so if you need help I've got it. | Nothing Short Of Chic
What to wear to Thanksgiving to be modest, non-"depressing", stylish, classy, and stain-concealing all at once.

Happy almost-Thanksgiving to my American friends. Happy month-and-a-half-after-Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends. And... happy winter to everyone else. With four days to go, perhaps you need an outfit for your dinner with your friends or your family (wishing luck to those in need), in which case you've come to the right place. Here's a simple yet seasonally appropriate outfit that includes no hint of black but yet does not have the struggles of color-matching. This is what I wore for my Thanksgiving celebration, which happened back at the beginning of October but is still relevant for those of you that either live in a temperate climate or celebrate indoors (I imagine those criteria cover most of you). If necessary, add some thick black tights and a large knee-length black coat (and sunglasses, of course) and you can keep the fabulous look and the feeling in your extremities. Don't forget the matching orange smokey-ish eye.

Some Thoughts On Importance And Mattering

Some thoughts, questions, and answers following an emotional, eye-opening week. | Nothing Short Of Chic
Original digital collage by Annika Cleland-Hura

The last week has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me, for a myriad of reasons. I've gotten frustrated at people I've never met on social media for posting pictures of their lunch or their shoes when there are much more important issues in the world, and I've wanted to indulge in entertainment and imagery as a way of escape – both of these simultaneously (I love that word). Mostly, though, I've been taking a break from social media because it does not feel worth it. It's not real. I post a photograph of my outfit on Instagram – but to what end? There are people literally starving in this world and I think that my ensemble du jour is worth something?

What I Wore: Arachne – #ChicHalloween 2016

For those of you who want to get into the Hallowe'en spirit but don't care for costumes, this outfit is for you. | Nothing Short Of Chic
What I wore on Hallowe'en – a versatile and easy-to-customize outfit and dramatic makeup.

Hello everyone! How was your Hallowe'en? I refrained from the type of costume posts that I did last year because, being in Viborg (and living out of a suitcase) I simply didn't have the resources. I did, however, get the chance to attend a fabulous party, so I had to cobble together a look from what I had in my travel closet. This look is actually a great party look in general, with slightly different makeup and accessories, which is why I thought I'd share it. I apologize for the low-quality photos; I worked with what I had in terms of lighting.
