Personal Style: Windy København & Midi Skirt

Why not take advantage of a windy day and look like you've just stepped out of a magazine shoot?

Copenhagen is lovely, but it can sure get windy here! Usually when faced with wind I opt for pants (less stressful) but with the longer length of this skirt plus the tights and coat, I felt I was safe enough to go pants-less. This coat/skirt combination is one that I've sported many iterations of (including this one) – I was originally inspired by this Vogue image to try it out and I fell in love. And now, every time a gust of wind comes, I feel super chic instead of annoyed. (Another bonus of short hair is that the wind only makes it cooler.)

So next time you want to channel your inner Vogue and look incredibly sophisticated at the same time (navy and black is a very very elegant combination) try this formula. Seriously. And don't forget your silk scarf.

All these photos are taken either in or nearby Tårnet på Christiansborg, which is just a fancy (read: Danish) way of saying The Tower of Christiansborg. It's the highest tower in Copenhagen and also free. Definitely recommend it (can't say anything about the restaurant, though – I didn't get a chance to try it out). I'll be putting up a Highlights of Copenhagen post on NSOC En Route in the next week as well with all my favorite photos and tips, et cetera. I'm taking the bus back to Viborg today so you'll see some more posts from there in the near future!

By the way, it can get super windy atop the tower – but it's nothing compared to another tower I visited today, Vor Frelsers Kirke, which sadly is less free than Tårnet but is definitely worth it. It has this incredible winding staircase around the outside with stairs that gradually get more narrow towards the top, until they eventually peter out. Were it not for the sturdy railing it would be a traumatizing experience, but the view is breathtaking and the railing doesn't seem to be going anywhere. But be warned: do not wear any loose clothing or forget to hold the railing. There is a strong, legitimate possibility of getting pushed over by the wind.

It appears I had more to say about those towers than I realized, so I might include some information in my Københaven post on NSOC En Route!

Med venlig hilsen (og kys!),
